SYMPHONY KIDS 4 – THE LITTLE RED HEN

A FREE CONCERT

On Saturday, April 1 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, members of the Helena Symphony

Orchestra continue this Season’s Education Concert Series with another Symphony Kids performance. Written specifically

for children ages 5 to 10, Symphony Kids is a free 30-minute concert for Helena families. As one of the Symphony’s

educational programs, Symphony Kids brings the power of live instrumental music into the hearts of children with specific

concerts designed to introduce them to the world of music and instruments.

“For our last Symphony Kids concert of the season, the old tale The Little Red Hen is brought to life with music by

American composer Aaron Copland. Featuring our largest cast this year, this story begins with a hen and her chicks

working hard to make some bread for the farmyard,” says Helena Symphony Education Coordinator Anna Milburn. “The

moral of The Little Red Hen is you have to help in order to partake in the reward, but Symphony Kids takes the

lesson one step further – that sharing is one of the best things we can do, regardless of whether someone deserves it.

The Little Red Hen is sure to bring a smile to your face and is a light-hearted way to bring our Symphony Kids season to a

close. We hope to see you there!”

“The Symphony Kids program is an essential part of our mission to engage, enrich, transform, and inspire lives

through music,” explains Director of Development & Communications, Cameron Betchey. “Symphony Kids connects

the community with many of the Helena Symphony’s core values including community engagement, inclusivity, and

education!”

Performed in the setting of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, children get to enjoy up-close and personal performances

meant to enrich and enhance music education in the Helena region. Symphony Kids is a 30-minute free concert, and

children receive an activity packet, and are welcomed to enjoy the Instrument Petting Zoo sponsored by Piccolo’s Music

and meet Finn the Fox with Intrepid Credit Union immediately following the concert in the lobby. Several hundred

families and children attend these free concerts and children of all ages are welcome!
