The long-range forecast calls for clear skies all day Saturday and into the night, meaning the Symphony Under the Stars should once again live up to its name that evening at Carroll College.
Judging by the sizeable and appreciative crowds that flock to the Carroll hillside each July for an evening with the Helena Symphony, there’s no need for us to urge anyone to check out one of the largest and most popular summer happenings in all of Montana. But that doesn’t mean we can’t sing our own praises for the annual event, upon which the curtain goes up for the ninth time Saturday at 8:30 p.m.
This year’s theme is the spirit of the Wild West, and the symphony has once again arranged for a talent of international acclaim to sit in. Violinist and composer Mark O’Connor, winner of two Grammy Awards, will bring his bluegrass, jazz and contemporary violin stylings to center stage.
