A virtuoso violin concerto, an exciting new work by an American composer and Ravel’s popular “Bolero” kick off the Helena Symphony Orchestra’s 58th season at 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, at the Helena Civic Center.

A champagne and chocolate gala in the ballroom follows, so the audience can meet and mingle with symphony musicians.

The concert celebrates the virtuosity of both the Helena Symphony Orchestra with the Concerto for Orchestra by American composer Jennifer Higdon and the talents of Concertmaster Stephen Cepeda, performing what is considered one of the more challenging works for a violinist, said Maestro Allan R. Scott.
