The music of the Queen of Soul comes to the Queen City!
Though Aretha Franklin died this past August, her legacy lives on in her music around the world. She recorded 112 charted singles on Billboard, including 20 number 1 R&B singles – becoming the most charted female artist in history. She won 18 Grammy Awards, including the first 8 awards given for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance, and is one of the best-selling music artists of all time – selling more than 75 million records worldwide.
The Helena Symphony launches one of the first symphonic tributes to Aretha Franklin, including the Helena Symphony Orchestra complete with rock band, backup singers, members of the Symphony Chorale, and two renowned artists: Grammy nominated R&B singer Ryan Shaw, and Broadway star Capathia Jenkins (from several Tony Award productions, including "Newsies.") The concert features top hits of Aretha Franklin as well as other music from great R&B legends including Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder.
