On Saturday, February 13 at 10:00 a.m., members of the Helena Symphony Orchestra continue this Season’s Education Concert Series with another Symphony Kids concert.  This concert is available as part of the HomeStream Your Helena Symphony presented by AARP MT broadcasting at no charge on YouTube.  Created for children ages 5 to 10, Symphony Kids is a free 35-minute concert for audiences of all ages and their and their families.  As one of the Symphony’s educational programs, Symphony Kids brings the power of live instrumental music into the hearts of children with specific concerts designed to introduce them to the world of music and instruments.

Titled My Mother is the Most Beautiful Woman in the World captures the importance of seeing the inner beauty in others.  The concert includes works by French composers Claude Debussy and Gabriel Fauré, specifically Debussy’s popular Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun.

“Symphony Kids concerts each offer an important life lesson, and this performance shows how we love others not because they are beautiful, but they are beautiful because we love them,” explains Barb Berg, Symphony Education Coordinator and writer of the Symphony Kids programs.  “This is a wonderful message for Valentine’s Day weekend.”

“These concerts are designed to make a personal and relevant connection with the children, and we are thrilled to offer these fun, imaginative, and interactive performances by the Symphony musicians and narrators,” explains Berg.  “This introduction of classical music to children becomes a friendship that lasts a lifetime.”

The children (or their parents) can download an activity book for the concert at https://www.helenasymphony.org/sk3  This will allow them to interact and enjoy up-close and personal performances meant to enrich and enhance music education in the Helena area.
